You don't have to be a pro to sound like one!

I have been writing trailer music for over 10 years. In that time I have amassed over 100 placements, multiple awards, and time to spend with my family.

In this course, I have distilled huge amounts of my knowledge and experience to show you step-by-step how to write trailer music that gets placed!

Writing trailer music can be easy, if you follow the right framework, but what is the right framework? In 2014, I took my side hustle of composing music and turned it into my full-time gig.

I then started getting people asking me how I did it; How do I manage to make a living from my music?

The answer was simple...Trailer Music.

I started trying to tell people how I do what I do. I even offered them my contacts if they managed to turn around a decent demo.

The thing that surprised me was how few people knew how to structure a trailer cue. No one knew how to.

As I continued down this path it became more and more obvious to me that there was a huge gap in music education - no one was teaching people how to write trailer music. And so the Trailer Music Course was born.

🤦🏻‍♂️ Struggling to get that big trailer sound?

Trust me when I say I know how frustrating it is when your music just isn't holding up against the pros.

When I started in trailer music I was thrown into the deepened. I was pitching for huge Hollywood blockbusters against some of the best composers/producers in the industry and I WAS STRUGGLING.

❌ I couldn't get the structures right.

❌I couldn't get my mixes to sound big enough.

❌ I couldn't make all those cool sound effects.

I began to lose any confidence I had in myself. But I persisted.

I kept working on my craft getting feedback from as many people as possible. And gradually it began to click and I began to land regular placements.

When I finally figured out what works I couldn't keep it a secret from anyone. I wanted to share all the knowledge I could to help all composers that wanted it.

To this day I still want to share as much knowledge as I possibly can with my students because I so wanted that help myself when I started out.

💁🏻‍♂️ Your Award Winning Instructor

I started writing music for movie trailers in 2011. Then in 2017 I started teaching other people how to write music for trailers too.

Writing trailer music can be very daunting. On the one hand you have to write great ideas, often recorded yourself, then produce them to the highest possible standard. All from the comfort of your own studio. Or in my case, front room.

Learning to do this is tough, frustrating and sometimes gets you down. That's why I started creating courses. To help make writing music for trailers, ads, TV (and for fun) as simple and as straightforward as reading a book.

💬 What My Students Are Saying...

💥 I just landed a Star Wars trailer!!!"

"As a direct result of Rich's courses and endlessly sharing his knowledge I just landed my first Star Wars trailer!!!"

- Espen Haagensli

🔥 From no trailer experience to HUGE placements!

"I love watching Richard explain his process WHILE he is composing and producing. It has given me some clarity on the things I need to focus on while producing stuff. I like melodies, harmonies and sounds but I often don't know what a track needs. Watching Richard has helped me figure that stuff out."

- Anna Eichenauer, Composer

🔑 The Courses That Taught Me All The "Secrets"

"I've just been asked to do a 10-track album for a well-known production library. This is literally thanks to Rich's courses helping me make those vital changes to take my music from being nice...to being placeable (within ..what 10 weeks of signing up for the TMS??) So...thanks for passing on what you've learned."

- Dave Graham, Composer

🙋🏽‍♀️ Frequently Asked Questions

💻 Do I need to be able to use a DAW?

Yes, you do need to be able to use a DAW so you can follow along with the videos.

📘 Do I have to use Logic?

Nope, you can use whichever DAW you please as long as you know how to use it.

🎼 How much music theory do I need to know?

The wonderful thing about this, and all of my courses is that I try to steer clear of getting too deep into theory. You will be at an advantage if you know how to harmonise the major/minor scales but aside from that you won't need any theory.

🎛 Do I have to know how to mix and master too?

I am so blessed to have had the amazing mixing and mastering engineer Toby Mason produce an hour-long masterclass in Trailer Music mixing and mastering. He shows you how to mix and master your music to a Hollywood standard within the course.

🤝 Can you guarantee I will get a placement?

Of course not! What I can say is that of all the composers and producers who have taken this course, the ones who are getting work as trailer music composers are the ones who put the hours into their work. They also happen to be super nice people (industry secret there)

How long do I have access to the course?

Forever. You bought the course and you own it for life. Access it anytime you want. You’ll also get all the course updates and new lessons for FREE forever. This is NOT a membership or subscription course.
